The Journey of the Norwegian Sloop “Restauration” Thurs., October 16 at 6:00 pm. On July 4, 2025 a replica of a 19th century sailing ship named “Restauration” set sail from Stavanger, Norway bound for New York. This Atlantic crossing celebrates the 200th anniversary of a historic journey bringing 53 Norwegian immigrants to America. The ship’s doctor, Aslak Bratveit, was a foreign exchange student at Cobleskill Central School in 1969-1970. On Thursday, October 16, Dr. Bratveit will be at our library to discuss the ship, the journey, and the history of Norwegian immigration to the United States. To learn more, visit the ship’s website at https://www.restauration.no/en and see a map tracking the ship’s voyage across the Atlantic.
